Ford has just announced the arrival of the 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty! This is an entirely new and innovative chapter in the history of the Super Duty pickup.
The 2017 Super Duty follows in the footsteps of the F-150, which has switched to an aluminum body with a high strength steel frame in the name of rigidity and weight savings. In fact, the all-new 2017 Super Duty has lost 350 pounds compared to the outgoing model. This new diet allowed them increase in the strength of the frame of the F-Series, and as a result increased the towing and hauling abilities of the new truck. Now the high strength steel is 24% stiffer that that of the previous model. Besides increased weight savings, the military-grade aluminum is more dent/ding resistant, and is not subject to rust corrosion, maintaining the longevity and durability expected of a Ford vehicle.
The 2017 Super Duty not only is innovative in weight savings, but also in technology as well. In fact, there are 16 new class-leading features available on the new truck! This includes LED headlights and taillights, a segment first in-cab tire pressure monitor system for trailers, seven cameras, BoxLink, a remote tailgate lock and release, and much more! Safety is also part of the innovative design, and is aided with driver assist features such as adaptive steering (which makes maneuvering easier at lower speeds and increases stability at higher ones), 360 degree cameras, trailer reverse guidance (to help attach trailers with ease), and even a camera that can be attached to the back of the trailer for increased visibility. Lane departure warning system, blind spot information system, and adaptive cruise control with collision warning and brake support are also available.
The interior is more user friendly and upscale, with SYNC 3 touchscreen technology as an option. Inside the driver will find auxiliary switches for upfitting in the overhead console, an integrated brake control, and dual glove box. Passengers in the rear can spread out with standard flat rear floors in Super and Crew Cab models.
The new F-Series Super Duty will be powered by a choice of three engines: a 6.2L V8 gas motor, 6.7L PowerStroke V8 Diesel, or a 6.8L V10 gas motor. It will be available in Single Cab, Super Cab, and Crew Cab configurations, as well as Chassis Cab with upfitting abilities. It will be available in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims.
The new 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty will go on sale later next year and will be proudly built in the USA at Ford’s Kentucky Truck plant. Stay tuned in at FordAddict.com for more news on the new 2017 Super Duty, as well as info for the rest of Ford’s lineup!
